EU-MATHS-IN 2025 Council Meeting

The EU-MATHS-IN European Network successfully held its Council Meeting on December 3–4, 2025, in Limassol, Cyprus, hosted and organized by CY-MATHS-IN, the Cypriot National Network, in collaboration with the Cyprus University of Technology. The meeting was coordinated by Panayiota Katsamba and Christos Marangos, whose efforts ensured a highly productive and welcoming event.

The Council Meeting brought together representatives from most of the  22 national networks, reflecting the truly pan-European reach of EU-MATHS-IN. Gathering in person provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration, exchange best practices, and jointly shape the network’s strategic direction.

Highlights of Day 1

The first day focused on governance, coordination, and forward planning, including:

• Welcome and opening session

• Reports from the EU-MATHS-IN national networks

• Review of EU-MATHS-IN activities and outlook for 2025

• Strategic discussions and planning

• Setup of the Consultative Council

• Working groups addressing upcoming EU opportunities

Discussions were complemented by informal networking, fostering connections in a relaxed setting.

Highlights of Day 2

The second day featured inspiring talks from academia, industry, and innovation stakeholders, showcasing the impact of industrial and applied mathematics on real-world challenges. Topics included:

• Mathematical modelling in digital technologies

• Indoor epidemic modelling

• Nanobubble technologies

• Circular approaches in wastewater treatment and materials

• A concluding panel discussion integrating scientific, industrial, and societal perspectives

Strengthening the Mathematics–Industry Bridge

The Limassol Council Meeting once again demonstrated EU-MATHS-IN’s central mission: reinforcing the bridge between mathematics, industry, and society. By bringing together national networks, researchers, and practitioners, the event highlighted the collective strength of the EU-MATHS-IN community and its role in driving innovation across Europe.
