11th Iberian Modeling Week (IMW)

The Iberian Modeling Week (IMW) returns for its 11th edition, bringing together undergraduate and master’s students for a unique experience in industrial mathematics. Hosted at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica in Barcelona, this event offers an opportunity to work on real-world challenges proposed by companies, using advanced mathematical modeling techniques.

Organized jointly by pt-maths-in (Portugal) and math-in (Spain), IMW is designed to bridge the gap between academic study and industrial application.

What to Expect

Over the course of one intensive week, students will:

• Work in teams under the guidance of senior researchers.

• Apply mathematical modeling to solve practical, real-life problems.

• Engage with topics such as mobility, optimization, and the pharmaceutical industry, among others.

Objectives

• Train students in applied mathematical modeling.

• Encourage collaboration among young mathematicians across borders.

• Strengthen connections between universities, industry, and both participating countries.

Participation

Participation is free and open to students from any university. A limited number of accommodation grants will be available to support students traveling from other institutions.
